On the nose, Swallows’ Return is sweet and enticing, with notes of crème brûlée, toasted coconut and apricot. On the palate, there’s more sweet vanilla alongside dry spice, cocoa powder and gentle peat smoke, which lingers on the finish.

A finely balanced and sweet-scented 16 Year Old whisky, with a natural deep amber colour from the cask. With its warm, sun-kissed notes of toasted coconut, apricot and vanilla bean, it’s inspired by the arrival of spring at our distillery in Kirkwall—and the wild swallows that nest here.

The Craft
The vanilla sweetness of Swallows' Return comes from sherry-seasoned American Oak casks, which we combine with sherry-seasoned European oak casks to add notes of spice and fruit. Additional refill casks round out the flavour for warmth, smoothness and balance.
The Stories
Nature is always present in the landscape around our Orkney home. The vibrant moors of heather, and the wildlife that springs to life after the winter months. The first sighting of Swallows returning to Orkney represents the start of those warmer months, marked with two words chalked onto our kiln door: SWALLOWS BACK.
