25 Year Old 2023 Release

Naturally deep and autumnal russet in colour, our 25 Year Old 2023 Release is sweet and enticingly spicy. Fragrant opening aromas of honeyed peaches and sweet satsumas are balanced by warm pistachio biscotti, a hint of freshly-cut oak and delicate floral peat. Flavours of warm and earthy spices follow – crushed coriander seed and aromatic oregano – intertwined with a delicate ribbon of sweet crème brûlée and gentle heather peat smoke. Sweet and spicy at the finish, there’s a suggestion of sweet citrus zest in the lingering woody spices.

To create this exceptional whisky, Gordon Motion, our Master Whisky Maker, selected 22 casks he knew would marry well – ten first-fill sherry seasoned European oak hogsheads, two first-fill sherry seasoned American oak hogsheads, four first-fill sherry seasoned American oak butts, five refill hogsheads and one refill butt to create a single malt Scotch whisky that is fruity, sweet and fragrant with warm, woody spices.

Slow maturation allows the distinctive flavours of the first-fill sherry seasoned casks to come vibrantly to the fore – aromatic spices from the European hogsheads, and sweet citrus and fruit from the American hogsheads and butts. The refill casks balance the influence of oak from the first-fill casks, delivering both complexity and refinement, while bottling the whisky at its marrying strength of 46% ensures a rich and full-bodied finish.
