Our distillery in Orkney lies almost in the Arctic Circle on a latitude of 58.9847°N, roughly the same as Anchorage, Alaska. Yet our climate is surprisingly temperate with its lack of extremes (2°C in winter to 16°C in summer) perfect for a long, even-paced whisky maturation in our island warehouses.
Gordon Motion, our Master Whisky Maker, selected and married three 2005 vintage, first-fill sherry seasoned American oak casks from our most northerly warehouse where they have enjoyed a long and even-paced maturation, free from extremes of temperature.
A deep burnished gold in colour with notes of rich vanilla and sweet heathery smoke, YESNABY delivers a finish that is light, woody and spicy. Named after the dramatic cliffs on Orkney’s Atlantic coastline, the final point on land before Greenland.
YESNABY was the fourth in a series of five special editions, showcasing our five keystones of production.
