A fond farewell
A fond farewell
After a decades-long, multi-award-winning career at Highland Park, our beloved Master Whisky Maker Gordon Motion will be retiring at the end of July.
Over his 27-year tenure, Gordon's ability to combine his deep, data-driven knowledge of our whisky and our stocks with a true craftsman’s creativity has resulted in many firsts for Highland Park, including the expansion of our range to include 21, 30 and 40 year old whiskies and landmark releases like the 56 Year Old, the oldest and rarest whisky the distillery has ever produced.
A warm welcome
We’re excited to announce Marc Watson as our new Master Whisky Maker. He brings with him over 11 years of industry experience, during which he’s won Whisky Magazine’s Icons of Whisky Distillery Manager of the year award and, most recently, served as Master Blender for The Famous Grouse and Naked Malt. Marc has been working alongside Gordon for the past 6 months to immerse himself in Highland Park’s exceptional aged whisky stocks and unique flavour profile.
“I want to thank Highland Park for being my home for close to three decades, during which there have been so many special moments for me. It’s been a great privilege and even better fun to have been a custodian of this truly great single malt whisky." – Gordon Motion
Sherry Skies
To celebrate Gordon’s legacy, we’re proud to release a limited edition 19-year-old single malt – Sherry Skies. Made from just nine casks, hand selected by Gordon for their character and flavour, this whisky sings with sherry sweetness, with intense jammy notes of dried fruit and tannic spices perfectly balanced with the subtle smoke of our Orkney heathered peat.
Sherry Skies has been crafted by Gordon as his “farewell dram” and is a particularly powerful expression of the sherry cask-influenced flavour that he has spent his career exploring and perfecting.
