All stories start somewhere. With a place, or a time, or an event. This story starts in Orkney, an archipelago of islands scattered in the stormy waters off the northernmost tip of Scotland. Here, 225 years ago, Highland Park’s founder, Magnus Eunson, set up a whisky still high on the hillside overlooking Scapa Flow Bay. And here, 54 years ago, one of our rarest whiskies was born.

Inspired by nature
The design of the 54 Year Old takes cues from Orkney’s awe-inspiring landscape and creative heritage. Natural materials and contemporary craftsmanship come together in a package that both protects and reveals the sculptural glass bottle.
Crafted by time
The 54 Year Old is crafted from just 10 refill casks, first laid down in 1968 and hand selected for further aging by our master whisky maker Gordon Motion in 2008. Watch the video to hear him introduce and explain the rich, complex and finely balanced flavours of the 54 Year Old.
