A marvellous gift for a whisky aficionado, we think our 21 Year Old is also the perfect whisky to round off a celebratory meal. That’s why we’re putting it firmly centre stage on our festive table this year.
The intense balance found in every Highland Park whisky comes from the careful selection of casks we know will marry well. The older the whisky, the fewer casks our Masker Whisky Maker, Gordon Motion, has to choose from so he creates our 21 Year Old in small batches each year. Gordon uses a combination of different cask types and he bottles at the whisky’s marrying strength of 46% for a consistently rich and full-bodied finish. That means you’ll find small variations in character from batch to batch, but the wild harmony of smoky-sweet flavours that is, uniquely, Highland Park, runs like DNA through every single release.
If you decide to serve 21 Year Old as the grand finale of your festive feast, we recommend pairing it with a Spanish goat’s cheese called ‘Murcia al Vino’ – literally translating to ‘Drunken Goat’. The fruity and wine-infused flavours of this delicious cheese are the perfect foil for the complex yet refined balance of ginger, orange, honey and pear flavours found in the whisky. 21 Year Old is not only the star of our festive table, but stole the show at various whisky awards this year. We were delighted (and honoured) to receive a Gold in the 2021 International Spirits Challenge and a Masters medal at the 2021 Scotch Whisky Masters for our 2020 Release, while our November 2019 Release was awarded an Ultimate Recommendation (96 points and an ‘Extraordinary’ accolade) at the 2021 Ultimate Spirits Challenge.
