TAKE THREE WHISKY MAKERS

TRISKELION is a celebration of the combined wisdom and experience of three of Highland Park’s legendary Master Whisky Makers – Gordon Motion, John Ramsay and Max McFarlane. For the first and only time, their 100 years (and a little bit more!) of combined whisky-making experience has been brought together to create one very special edition.

Gordon Motion

Gordon joined Edrington 21 years ago as Assistant to our Master Whisky Maker who was, at the time, John Ramsay. Following John’s retirement in 2008, Gordon took over the mantle as Master Whisky Maker and has been looking after Highland Park ever since. Innovative and highly skilled, Gordon’s bold and exciting approach to new cask combinations helps to drive our award-winning portfolio of single malt Scotch whisky. According to Gordon: “It was both fun and a real honour to work again with John and Max. We are very proud of TRISKELION – it tested our skills sets and our craftsmanship, but not our friendship.”

John Ramsay

As Master Whisky Maker Emeritus, John fulfilled his role with passion and distinction until his retirement in 2009. He has worked in the industry for 43 years and remains one of most highly respected figures in the whisky world today. John’s skills as a whisky maker contributed significantly to the early development of Highland Park and to making it the world-renowned whisky it is today.

Max McFarlane

Max is our longest-serving Master Whisky Maker, retiring from Edrington in 2019 but still active in the whisky industry. A skilled sensory analyst with a superb nose, he has – over the course of 44 years – nosed thousands of casks of Highland Park whisky, ensuring each bottle we release delivers our whisky’s trademark character.
