Each whisky from the Highland Park Distillery comes with its own distinctive character, but each carries that unmistakeable flavour DNA of heather honey, spiced fruitcake and peat smoke. These four are definitely at the top of our whisky wish list… question is, will they be sitting beneath your Christmas tree?

12 YEAR OLD

Spicy, well-rounded and brimming with the flavours of sun-kissed Seville oranges and rich fruitcake spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. There’s a rich vein of molten heather honey running through this superb whisky’s waves of fragrant, heather-laden peat smoke. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more classic festive gift (unless it’s our 15 Year Old, 18 Year Old or 21 Year Old of course!) and it’s the perfect ingredient in a classic old fashioned too – with a Highland Park twist.

15 YEAR OLD

When scorched pineapple meets cinnamon shards meets vanilla sponge cake… This wonderfully complex single malt opens with rich and spicy aromas of crème brûlée, heather honey and crumbled cinnamon followed by intensely fruity notes of pineapple with a scattering of lemon zest. You’ll find warm hints of freshly-baked sponge cake and toasted shards of cinnamon packed in there too – seriously good with our Sticky Toffee Pineapple Pudding recipe! The ceramic decanter, inspired by the earthenware vessels our whisky would have been stored in a century or two ago and, with some creative upcycling, could ensure that your gift is still being enjoyed long after the last sip of whisky has been appreciated.

18 YEAR OLD

Bursting with the flavours of ripe cherries, bitter dark cocoa, fresh honeycomb and salted peat smoke, this iconic single malt is full-bodied yet refined with a unique flavour profile driven by the high ratio of first-fill sherry seasoned European and American oak casks that we use. The most consistently and highly awarded of our whiskies too, in 2022, it received a Double Gold Medal in the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and a Gold (outstanding medal) in the International Wine & Spirit Competition, among other accolades (see our Shining Brightly blog!). 21 YEAR OLD 

The intense balance found in every Highland Park whisky comes from the careful selection of casks we know will marry together well. The older the whisky, the fewer casks our Masker Whisky Maker, Gordon Motion, has to choose from so he creates our 21 Year Old in small batches. Gordon uses a combination of different cask types and bottles the whisky at its marrying strength of 46% for a consistently rich and full-bodied finish. You’ll find small variations in character from batch to batch, but our smoky-sweet flavour profile runs like DNA through every single release. A marvellous gift for a whisky aficionado, our 21 Year Old is perfect for sharing at the end of a celebratory meal, taking centre stage in the cheese course.
