DISCOVER THE DUNSTANE HOUSES
Standing proudly in Edinburgh’s historic and picturesque West End, The Dunstane Houses is one of the city’s favourite boutique hotels and has been lovingly created by Shirley and Derek Mowat who left their home in Orkney 23 years ago for the bright lights of London… only to fall in love with Edinburgh instead.
Now refurbished from top to toe, their hotel exudes a beautifully-conceived harmony of contemporary luxury with period character, and the restaurant features a daily celebration of the best of Scottish produce infused with a distinctively Orcadian touch. Their Ba’ Bar – named in honour of the Kirkwall Ba’ Game – stocks an impressive selection of Highland Park whiskies.
Shirley’s desire was to create a little pocket of Orkney in the heart of Edinburgh and the thought that goes into ensuring the spirit of Orkney is woven authentically through every detail of the hotel’s presentation, from the menu to the interior design.
With travel now starting to open up again, Shirley and her team are delighted to welcome guests back to The Dunstane Houses. “We’re excited to see so many international guests - particularly our American friends - coming back to Edinburgh. It’s been too long! Our visitors love choosing a dram from the great selection that our vintage whisky cabinet has to offer - the perfect night cap after a day of sightseeing.”
If you’re planning a trip to Edinburgh, make sure that The Dunstane Houses are on your ‘must-see’ list. Book your next city break, make a reservation for lunch or dinner, or simply drop in for a drink. Fancy an al fresco experience? You can relax in their Orkney Garden (sheltered and heated!) and enjoy exploring their wide range of gins and beers from Orkney, as well as your favourite Highland Park whiskies of course.
Shirley adds: “Our Orkney Garden is now open every day, encouraging visitors to enjoy our great range of products from the Orkney Islands. We’re doing special whisky serves seven days a week and our private, exclusive whisky tasting experience is a must!”
