A DRAM TO DISCOVER
Each month, we select one of our whiskies to be our ‘Dram to Discover’, which means you can sample it in the Albert Street store and also when you take part in one of our distillery tours.
As Whisky Month is celebrated around the world throughout May – and as 8th May is both International Viking Day and also the second anniversary of our Albert Street store opening – what could be a more fitting selection than Triskelion. This is a whisky created for the very first time by not one, but three of Highland Park’s legendary Master Whisky Makers, Gordon Motion, Max McFarlane and John Ramsay.
Triple cask influence
Celebrating their combined 100 years of whisky-making skill and experience, Gordon, Max and John chose three distinctive first-fill casks to explore the influence of wood and cask seasoning on flavour and character. A combination of first-fill sherry seasoned Spanish oak butts, first-fill sherry seasoned American oak casks and first-fill bourbon barrels and hogsheads were combined and then balanced out with a small quantity of refill casks to add a degree of softness to the final flavour.
Full of character
Described deliciously as ‘marmalade kindling’, Triskelion is a complex and full-bodied expression, bottled at 45.1% ABV. Clear and bright with distinctive russet hues, it delivers a wild harmony of rich fruit flavours, creamy sweetness and aromatic spice. You’ll find notes of freshly-squeezed Seville oranges, handfuls of juicy raisins and sultanas, crème brulee with apricot coulis and an intriguing hint of crushed coriander seeds. Our signature heather peat smoke and a suggestion of cloudy honey unites each layer of flavour to create an exceptionally well-balanced whisky, as full of character as its three creators.
