Andrew Appleby

Andrew has been foraging since he was three years old and has an encyclopaedic knowledge of what to find, where and at what time of year in Orkney. As a master potter and the Managing Director of Fursbreck Pottery, based at the old Harry School, he is also known far and wide as ‘The Harray Potter’. Andrew’s debut novel, Skard, was inspired by his fascination with archaeology and the Neolithic age. He is also President of the John Rae Society which recognises the achievements of Arctic Explorer and Orcadian, John Rae.
