Orcadian Vintage Series 1970
As a sonic boom rang out across the blue skies of the Atlantic during Concorde’s maiden voyage, our 1970 vintage began its long and peaceful maturation in Orkney’s temperate climate. 40 years later, the Concorde dream was long gone, but what remained was a whisky of remarkable elegance and balance.
A combination of refill butts and hogsheads were hand-selected by our longest standing Whisky Maker, Max McFarlane, for their exceptional character. Bottled in 2010, this 1970 vintage yielded a delightfully rich mix of caramelised pineapple, crushed coriander seeds overlaid with spicy cedarwood and rich peat smoke.
Each whisky in the Orcadian Vintage Series is presented in an exquisite wooden box which features marquetry inspired by the intricate wood carvings at the Urnes Stave Church in Norway and the Highland Park amulet, hand-crafted in silver.
