Never mind the 12 days of Christmas, we asked 12 members of our distillery team to share their favourite family traditions, festive drams and food pairings at this time of year….
The Ba’ is definitely a favourite tradition for Ronnie Paterson (Process Operator), Kevin Drever (Warehouse Supervisor) and James McConnachie (Process Operator). And Robbie Drever (Maltman) told us that his favourite tradition at this time of year is Boxing Day Dinner… because of course the Ba’ traditionally takes place on Christmas Day. Both David Coates (Warehouse Operator) and Graham Garriock (Process Operator) like nothing better than pairing a dram of Highland Park with crackers and Orkney cheese – for David it’s our classic 12 Year Old while for Graham, it’s 21 year Old. Graham Ratter (Warehouseman) told us that he couldn’t possibly pick out his favourite Christmas food – “I’d be here all day I had to list them all!”
Our 18 Year Old came out as the firm favourite for a festive dram with Sean Dearness (Warehouse Operator), James McConnachie (Process Operator), Don Gray (Warehouseman) and Nicky Barnett (Process Operator). Nikky told us he loves pairing this single malt with mini oat cakes topped with smoked salmon pate – which sounds absolutely delicious! Graham Ratter, Kevin Drever and Robbie Drever all love our 15 Year Old while Rikki Gutcher (Production Team Leader) will make sure his glass holds a measure of Cask Strength Release No. 2 which he recommends pairing with Hume’s Oak Smoked Mackerel.
