Meet The New Tribe: Highland Park Whisky Shop Staff

Our brand new visitor experience store at 58 Albert Street, Kirkwall opened in May. We thought we’d take the opportunity to introduce you to the friendly faces you’ll meet when you visit us.

Nicola Stevenson

Nicola worked at the Scapa Distillery Visitor Centre before becoming our Retail Manager. She loves travelling and has a wide and eclectic musical taste – rock to pop and all stops in between. Her favourite spot in Orkney is South Ronaldsay’s East Side Beach and she’s a fan of FULL VOLUME.

Charlotte Groat

A keen walker and self-confessed ‘massive’ Ed Sheeran and Take That fan, Charlotte worked at Balpour Hospital before joining as at Albert Street this Spring. Her favourite place in Orkney is Hoy and 10 Year Old VIKING SCARS is her favourite dram.

Dean Bassett

Dean, originally from Wales, previously worked as a furniture designer and upholsterer. He’s a big fan of FULL VOLUME and loves the spectacular views over Brough of Birsay.

Dawn Johnston

Dawn worked for us before and is the niece of Brian Firth, a member of our distillery team. She enjoys travelling and arts and crafts and previously worked as an animal care supervisor in Canada. For Dawn, nothing beats watching the stars on a frosty night from her parents’ garden in Stenness… with a dram of 30 Year Old to hand.

Duncan Foxley

With a passion for kayaking and fishing, it’s perhaps not surprising that Duncan’s favourite place in Orkney is Windiwick Bay. Duncan, who has a degree in archaeology, was working on a family croft before making the move to Albert Street. He enjoys a drop of Highland Park 25 Year Old.

Maureen Skea

Having previously worked for Tesco, Maureen joins us with bags of retail experience and is already a familiar face as her son, Gary Skea, is part of the team who look after the casks in our warehouses. When she’s not gardening or listening to country music Maureen loves visiting the standing stones at the Ring of Brodgar.

Susie Webb

Susie, who swapped life in our Glasgow office for the retail team at our Kirkwall store, enjoys walking her dogs and listening to The Stereophonics. Her favourite spot in Orkney is Newark Bay. A big fan of FULL VOLUME, Susie also enjoys the occasional glass of INGVAR.

 Violet Webb

Violet is the latest recruit to our retail team. A keen member of her local golf team, we’re sure she’ll get into the swing of things here at Albert Street in no time at all!
