50 Year Old

When making whisky, your concept of time is affected. Scales are shifted. You begin to think in years, not weeks or days. You are profoundly aware that it may be a very long time before you witness the slow-ripening fruits of your labour. 50 years, in extreme cases.
Our oldest whisky has been hand-bottled from just 2 sherry-seasoned Spanish oak hogsheads. These casks were first filled in 1964 and lay undisturbed until 2008. In January 2010, we married the 2 casks and introduced a little of the 1960 vintage from our earlier batch of 50 Year Old. We then returned the newly married whisky to its hogsheads and left them to harmonise for a further 8 years.
With only 274 bottles released, this is an intensely rich whisky with sweet notes of ripe black cherries and Muscovado sugar, which give way to dried autumn fruits and warm toasted wood. It delivers the merest hint of cedar-wood, wrapped in our signature light and peaty aromatic smoke.
