Our new three-year partnership with the Bayreuther Festspiele reflects our shared passion for Norse legends, age-old traditions and fine craftsmanship – as well as the spirit of discovery and exploration we celebrate on stage and in our distillery.
German composer, Richard Wagner, often based his operas on Norse and Germanic myths and legends. The Bayreuther Festspiele, which he founded in 1876, has grown to become one of the most prestigious classical music festivals in the world. Held every year during July and August, it presents and celebrates a selection of the great composer’s works. You can find more about the Festival here.
BRÜNNHILDE, the first of three single cask limited editions to be released during our partnership, is inspired by the legendary Valkyrie of the same name, from Richard Wagner’s epic Ring of Nibelung operatic cycle. Limited to just 654 bottles, this whisky has been matured for eleven years in a sherry seasoned oak cask. Naturally dark amber in colour, it reveals notes of creamy vanilla, caramelised pineapple, sweet heather honey, fresh lemon zest and fiery ginger, wrapped up in our trademark light peat smoke.
Launching at the end of July, BRÜNNHILDE will be available via Spirituals.shop, a selected partner of the Bayreuther Festspiele.
